Saturday, October 6, 2018 Autumn Welcome Party for the Stanford Internship Students

From 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, we held the Autumn Internship Students’ Welcome Party at the Amherst Gest House at Doshisha University.

A total of 40 people attended, 10 Stanford Students, SJC president Mike Hugh and 2 other Stanford professors with their families (6 family members), 9 Kansai Stanford Club members, and 12 other guests attended. (See group photo)

In the beginning, three groups were formed, maple, gingko and Mt. Fuji, and we enjoyed the potluck lunch.

After the lunch, we had a paper Frisbee competition. At first, all had to make their own Frisbees from 8 Origami pieces.

The competition had two rounds. In the first round, the goal was 5 meters away and in the second round 7 meters. The ranking was decided by the score of each participant. If the Frisbee past through the one meter wide goal ring, the person get 20 points in the first round, and 30 points in the second round.

Everyone tried their best, but the goal was hard to hit. At the end of the competition, three winners were awarded prizes.

This year typhoon 25 approached Japan this weekend, so we were wondering if the party could be held as planned. Fortunately the weather was not too bad, so everyone could enjoy the party.
