Welcome to Kansai Stanford Club!
Message from the President
Kansai Stanford Club (KSC) is a Japanese alumni organization of Stanford University. We are based in Kyoto in Kansai Area of Japan. KSC was founded in 1931 and has the oldest history as a Stanford Alumni Organization in Japan. We collaborate closely with BOSP Stanford Program in Kyoto run by the Stanford Japan Center directed by Dr. Mike Hugh.
We take pleasure in the welcome parties for the Stanford students who come to Japan for internship. We have been holding the parties every spring and winter. We invite Japanese students and aluminum so that students from Stanford can interact with young people here in Japan. We also create opportunities for students to interact with various people by inviting guests interested in our activities to the party. We enjoy the culture of Kyoto and the variety of activities with food, drinks, and pleasant talk.
We make much of the atmosphere of family. We cannot talk about our activities without touching upon the dedication of volunteers interested in welcoming Stanford students.
In planning and running the welcome party, members' spouses and relatives take part in and enjoy hand-made food and recreations together with Stanford students.
Due to Covid-19, unfortunately, we could not hold the welcome party in 2021. There is no plan yet for 2022 due to the spread of Omicron. We want to wait patiently for the day to welcome students again who come interested in Japan.
I invite you to think about joining KSC. There is no selection process to be a board member so far. The board members consist of members who positively participate in the activities with continued interest. There are no annual club fees. We welcome you to join with your spouses in the event planning meeting.
Covid-19 allowed online activities worldwide, and it became easier to communicate internationally. When we cannot hold the welcome party, we have lectures by specialists of various fields. We welcome participation from outside Japan. Don't hesitate to contact us through this homepage if you are interested.
I am honored to receive the button from the 7th President Mr. Ishida. I will engage with this work with the support of the board members and two secretaries of this year, who handle the practical jobs. We are looking forward to seeing you through the events. Please join us with your families and friends!
